Frequently asked questions
How it works
- How does iusmatch work?
- You post your legal question in plain language. We turn it into a clear, anonymised case file. Vetted lawyers who fit your question send a proposal with scope, hours and rate. You choose on substance and price, work together in one workspace, and receive the delivery and invoice through the platform.
- What happens after I post my question?
- Your question is turned into a structured case file and anonymised before any lawyer sees it. Lawyers with the right specialty can then send a proposal. Once you accept a proposal, the workspace opens and the work begins.
- Do I have to upload documents?
- No. You can start with just your question. If documents help a lawyer assess the matter, you can add them. They are shared anonymised, just like your question.
- Will I receive more than one proposal?
- Often yes. Several vetted lawyers can respond to your anonymised case file with their own proposal. That lets you compare on substance, approach and price before you choose.
- How does the collaboration work after I choose?
- You work with your chosen lawyer in one workspace per case. There you share messages and documents, follow the milestones and keep a grip on time and cost. You have direct contact, with no middle layer.
- What happens at delivery?
- Your lawyer delivers the work with the checked milestones, the final documents and a note. You can accept, request a revision, or discuss first. If you do not respond within 14 days, the case completes automatically. The invoice is finalised on acceptance.
Anonymity and privacy
- What does anonymous mean at iusmatch?
- Lawyers see your case, not who you are. Names, addresses and company details are removed before a case file is visible. Your identity is only shared after you choose a proposal.
- How is my information anonymised?
- Anonymisation happens at the database level, not only in the display. There are two levels: standard removes names, addresses and company details; strict also removes dates and financial details.
- When is my identity revealed?
- Only at the moment you accept a proposal and start working with a lawyer. Until then your case file stays anonymised for everyone who can send a proposal.
- Where is my data stored?
- All infrastructure and data sit in the EU. iusmatch is built with privacy by design as its starting point.
- Who can see my case?
- Only vetted lawyers with the right specialty can view your anonymised case file to send a proposal. Your full details are only visible to the lawyer you end up working with.
- Does my case stay confidential?
- Yes. Your identity is only shared under mutually accepted confidentiality terms, and communication runs securely through the platform.
Costs and billing
- What does iusmatch cost me as a client?
- You pay no platform fee, no subscription and no commission. You pay only your lawyer's hours at the agreed rate, plus 21% VAT. There is no markup on your invoice.
- How do I know what I'll pay in advance?
- Every proposal shows the rate, an estimate of the hours and the milestones. So you see the expected cost before you agree.
- What if more work is needed than expected?
- Extra hours are requested in the chat first, with a reason and a cost. The budget only rises if you explicitly approve it. No surprises afterwards.
- How does billing work?
- Proposals can work with milestones. The invoice is finalised once you accept the delivery. Payment runs through the platform.
- Can an urgent case cost more?
- If you want a case handled urgently, a surcharge may apply. It applies only with your explicit consent and only to the hours in the urgency window. A case that is simply time-sensitive, without an urgency request, carries no surcharge.
- Do I pay anything if I don't choose a lawyer?
- No. Posting a question and receiving proposals costs nothing. You only pay once you accept a proposal and the work starts.
Trust and verification
- How are lawyers vetted?
- Lawyers are verified on identity, professional registration and firm before they can send proposals.
- Is iusmatch a law firm?
- No. iusmatch is not a law firm and does not give legal advice itself. Lawyers work independently. iusmatch provides the match, the structure and the payment.
- Does iusmatch give legal advice?
- No. The legal advice always comes from the independent lawyer you work with. iusmatch is the platform that connects you.
- How do I know a lawyer is right for my case?
- Your case file is matched on specialty, and every proposal shows the approach and the rate. So you choose on substance, not on marketing budget.
- How is my confidentiality handled?
- Your identity is only shared under mutually accepted confidentiality terms. Privacy is built in through anonymisation at the database level.
For counsel
- How does iusmatch work for lawyers?
- You are offered structured, anonymised case files that fit your expertise. You review the scope before investing time and submit a clear proposal with your rate and milestones.
- What does it cost to take part as a lawyer?
- There is no subscription. You only pay when you win work. The cost is a small percentage plus a short, time-based component per new client connection.
- Is there a discount for repeat clients?
- Yes. For follow-up cases with the same client the cost is lower than for a new connection. Repeat work is rewarded.
- Do I have to do my own acquisition?
- No. You do not need to do business development. You are offered pre-structured, anonymised matters and stand out on substance rather than marketing.
- What about admin and billing?
- Intake, scope and billing run through the platform, including VAT and payment. That saves you admin and hassle with debtors.
